African models have completely redefined beauty parameters and norms across the globe

For decades, the fashion and beauty industry did its best to highlight its love for light skin. Movies, billboards, fashion shows, TV commercials, and magazine ads all showed that white skin was beautiful. Dark skin was rarely seen, and many young girls grew up feeling they were not beautiful. Some even tried to bleach the skin, wanting to fit into a beauty mold, a more predefined definition, and look "beautiful".
